Feasibility and Scheme Identification

Red Wilson Associates engineers have many years of experience in assessing sites, designing solutions to meet specific issues, bringing highway / junction amendments into service, and afterwards reviewing to check that anticipated scheme benefits have been realised. This end-to-end experience across a large volume of schemes allows us to offer a highly competent feasibility and scheme identification service.

Site Appraisal

We are able to appraise existing sites in order to identify existing constraints and potential opportunities to resolve a certain issue or issues.

These issues can typically be things such as road safety problems, particular congestion / operational concerns, maintenance problems etc.

Site appraisal often initially takes the form of site observations by one of our highly experienced engineers. This then allows us to advise if further detailed surveys are required to build up a better picture of users behaviour at a site. We would then analyse relevant data sets, such as traffic / pedestrian flows or accident statistics, as well as discussing the site with relevant stakeholders to gain specific local knowledge.

Optioneering

Once we have appraised a site, we will use traffic modelling and drawing tools, as well as our knowledge of local and national standards, to develop potential options to amend the highway network that would deliver on the customer’s requirements.

This scheme development typically takes an iterative approach with a team of engineers specialising in all areas of design and construction ensuring options presented are cost effective and buildable.

Feasibility work is always presented in the form of a report that is concise and allows the customer to understand fully the current conditions on site, justification for our proposals, and potential benefits and costs of implementation.
