Senior / Principal Transport Modeller

You should have demonstrable traffic modelling experience primarily in microsimulation modelling (Vissim) and local junction modelling software.

We have a wide client base within both the public and private sector and are looking to expand our transport modelling and design team by recruiting a modeller to senior or principal role dependent on existing experience.

Job Role

The role would be to work within our Design and Modelling Team, supporting the output of consultancy services for our diverse client base. This is a hands on role which encourages you to get stuck into transport modelling and using your experience to influence proposals. This will include;

  • Modelling base layouts and new proposals in Vissim, LinSig and Junctions10;

  • Participating in feasibility studies to investigate physical changes to the highway network that encourage walking and cycling;

  • Producing technical notes to support the submission of traffic models inline with best practice modelling guidelines;

  • Specifying and analysing survey data aimed at solving a specific transport issues;

  • An opportunity to design and present your findings both internally and to our external clients; and

  • Working collaboratively with other members of the team including designers and project managers.

  • Making sure our modelling team is aware of and utilising the most up to date and relevant modelling software and guidance.

This is a 40-hour a week full time role.

Required Skills, Knowledge and Experience

Essential

Three years minimum traffic modelling experience, more specifically in using Vissim.

Excellent written and oral communication skills.

GCSE Grades in English and Maths (Levels 6-9 or B-A*) or Further education and or experience in an Engineering discipline.

Desirable

Experience in using other modelling software such as local junction modelling tools or Aimsun.

Experience in using AutoCAD.

Experience in submitting models through Transport for London’s Model Audit Process.

An understanding and technical competence in traffic signal operation.
